Lily Hui
Executive Producer
Dragonstar Pictures
Lily is a gifted storyteller, who knows how to lift a tale from the page to the screen and get the most bang her buck. Her best stories have often been shared with StoryMaker's Pamela Jones in coffee shops and restaurants where many a synopsis has been scrawled on a napkin, including her story for A Fare, (her directorial debut), which Pamela wrote.
Studios such as ABC, NBC, Lifetime/A+E and Thunderbird Pictures are constantly vying for Lily's talent as a cool-headed, budget-savvy producer, so we're thrilled to have her collaborate on The Lucy Gray Agency through her company Dragonstar Pictures. Lily is currently producing The Nancy Drew TV series for CBS. Prior to that, she produced the series Unspeakable, for CBC and Sundance, a mini series about the tainted blood scandal in Canada, for which she won a Leo Award. She produced seasons 1 - 3 of the hit TV series Unreal for Lifetime/A&E and is co-executive produced Season 4. She also produced Season 3 of the ABC series Mistresses. Prior to that, she produced the Showcase series Endgame for Thunderbird Films along with their sitcoms: Some Assembly Required and Package Deal, both with live studio audiences. She also produced the TV movie, Cocaine Godmother, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Lily started on her path to film and television at Julliard School in New York as a Production Stage Manager, before joining EXPO '86 as Supervisor of Ceremonies and serving as Associate Director on Sharing the Dream, the Rick Hanson Homecoming Tribute, and as Media Liaison Officer for the XV Olympic Winter Games. In 1988, she began producing and production managing TV commercials for Polaris Entertainment, moving on to produce the magazine format series, Beyond the Line and working as production supervisor, production manager and line producer on: Sands of Time (for Warner Brothers); Home Song (for CBS); Family Blessings (for CBS); and Unwed Father (for ABC). Other credits include: Walking Shadow (for A&E); Black River (for FOX); Kevin of the North (feature film); In the Name of the People (for CBS), Babylon 5 – Legend of the Rangers (for Warner Brothers), Jeremiah (Seasons 1 & 2 for MGM) plus 3 seasons of the television series Kyle XY (for ABC Studios/ABC Family). She also produced many episodes of Sanctuary (for Syfy/Space).
When not on set, Lily can be found in the woods with her dogs Skyla and Ekko or at tap dancing class. One of her proudest moments last year was getting to the end of her 1,000-kilometre trek of El Camino de Santiago. She is now planning her next adventure, in Tibet.
